# Developers The Developers are members of the [[1.5 Scrum Team|Scrum Team]][^scrum-guide-2020]. They are accountable for[^scrum-guide-2020]. - creating the [[4.2 Sprint Backlog|Sprint Backlog]] every [[3.1 Sprint|Sprint]], - adhering to the [[5.3 Definition of Done|Definition of Done]], - [[1.3 Scrum theory|adapting]] the plan in the [[4.2 Sprint Backlog|Sprint Backlog]] towards the [[5.2 Sprint Goal|Sprint Goal]] each day, - "holding [[1.4 Scrum Values|each other]] accountable as professionals". They are committed in creating at least one [[4.3 Increment|Increment]] for each [[3.1 Sprint|Sprint]][^multiple-increments], while the whole [[1.5 Scrum Team|Scrum Team]] is accountable for it[^scrum-guide-2020]. [^multiple-increments]: "Developers are the people in the Scrum Team that are committed to creating any aspect of a usable Increment each Sprint." "Multiple Increments may be created within a Sprint."[^scrum-guide-2020] [^increment-sprint-accountability]: "The entire Scrum Team is accountable for creating a valuable, useful Increment every Sprint."[^scrum-guide-2020] The Developers inspect the progress toward the [[5.2 Sprint Goal|Sprint Goal]] every day at the [[3.3 Daily Scrum|Daily Scrum]][^sprint-goal-daily-scrum]. They can [[1.3 Scrum theory|adapt]] the [[4.2 Sprint Backlog|Sprint Backlog]] accordingly throughout the day as necessary[^backlog-update-multiple-times]. The scope of the [[4.2 Sprint Backlog|Sprint Backlog]] can be negotiated by the Developers with the [[2.2 Product Owner|Product Owner]] as long as the [[5.2 Sprint Goal|Sprint Goal]] stays unaffected[^negotiate-scope-po]. [^sprint-goal-daily-scrum]: "The purpose of the Daily Scrum is to inspect progress toward the Sprint Goal and adapt the Sprint Backlog as necessary, adjusting the upcoming planned work. The Daily Scrum is a 15-minute event for the Developers of the Scrum Team."^[^scrum-guide-2020] [^backlog-update-multiple-times]: "The Daily Scrum is not the only time Developers are allowed to adjust their plan. They often meet throughout the day for more detailed discussions about adapting or re-planning the rest of the Sprint’s work."[^scrum-guide-2020] [^negotiate-scope-po]: "The Sprint Goal is created during the Sprint Planning event and then added to the Sprint Backlog. As the Developers work during the Sprint, they keep the Sprint Goal in mind. If the work turns out to be different than they expected, they collaborate with the Product Owner to negotiate the scope of the Sprint Backlog within the Sprint without affecting the Sprint Goal."[^scrum-guide-2020] The [[2.1 Developers|Developers]] are responsible for sizing the [[4.1 Product Backlog|Product Backlog items]][^developers-responsible-sizing]. [^developers-responsible-sizing]: "The Product Backlog \[...\] is the single source of work undertaken by the Scrum Team." "The Developers who will be doing the work are responsible for the sizing."[^scrum-guide-2020] [^scrum-guide-2020]: [[1.2 Scrum Guide|Scrum Guide (2020)]] ## Developers and Nexus In the [[N1.1 Nexus framework|Nexus framework]], some of the Developers of the [[1.5 Scrum Team|Scrum Teams]] are also part of the [[N2.1 Nexus Integration Team|Nexus Integration Team]][^nexus-developers]. [^nexus-developers]: "The Nexus Integration Team often consists of Scrum Team members who help the Scrum Teams to adopt tools and practices that contribute to the Scrum Teams’ ability to deliver a valuable and useful Integrated Increment that frequently meets the Definition of Done."[^nexus-guide-2021] [^nexus-guide-2021]: [[N1.2 Nexus Guide|Nexus Guide (2021)]]
